An affiliate link review checklist for YouTube creators

Review destinations, tracking parameters, and product alternatives with a simple checklist for maintaining affiliate links.

Affiliate links need regular maintenance. A destination can respond successfully while showing a different product, an expired campaign, or an unavailable item.

Confirm the destination

Open important links in your browser and check where they lead after redirects. For short links, confirm that the final store and product match the promise in your video.

  • Does the page show the intended resource or product?
  • Is it suitable for the audience and region you are targeting?
  • Is the offer or sponsor campaign still current?

Review tracking separately

CreatorLinks checks Amazon URLs for tracking parameters and availability signals. Tracking parameters alone do not establish whether an affiliate account is active or whether a purchase will qualify for a commission.

Use your affiliate platform's own dashboard to review account and campaign details. If you replace a link, generate the replacement through the appropriate platform tools.

Treat uncertain availability as a manual task

Automated requests can encounter restricted pages, regional differences, or dynamic storefronts. A Needs review result is a prompt to investigate. For platforms other than Amazon, CreatorLinks checks the HTTP response without attempting to confirm product stock.

Keep a maintenance routine

Start with videos that receive ongoing traffic. Audit links after a sponsor campaign ends, when a recommended product is discontinued, or when viewers report trouble.

Use the YouTube description audit workflow to check videos and record the changes you need to make.
